Temple of Dionysus

Address: Pergamon Acropolis, Bergama, 35700, İzmir, Turkey.

The Temple of Dionysus in Pergamon is a fascinating example of Roman-era religious architecture, originally constructed in the 2nd century BCE and later renovated in the 2nd century AD. Located on the steep slopes of the Acropolis, the temple was dedicated to Dionysus, the god of wine, theater, and revelry. Its Corinthian columns and elevated staircase are classic elements of Roman design. Though much of the temple lies in ruins today, its surviving foundations and columns evoke the grandeur of Pergamon’s spiritual and cultural life.
